Milk & Cookies

Be Still 52 - week 17 with Kim Klassen photography class

What a funny prompt for week 17 - Milk and Cookies! A picture with a drinking straw is easy. But I've had an other idea.
Recently I tried to shoot water drops .... so why not milk drops :) From more than 40 shots a captured about 5 good drops.
Maybe an image with drinking straw will follow. (edit: see below)

In Lightroom I used the LR preset cool-coloring and in Photoshop a applied Kims texture cloudyday mode soft light 100%  only for the glass with the milk.

A Nature Walk

For this week we were asked to walk in the nature.  For my image I picked up in the forest some spring flowers, I love the pink windflowers, bark of a tree and moss and of course earth ... or so :)


I used the textures kk_felicity, overlay op. 100% and kk_heartbeat, multiply op. 96%

I like to start my day calm and to enjoy whatever I do. I love when I've time for walking in the nature, to meet friends.

For this week I gave a try to texturize a stilllife photography which I did'nt like particularly when I shot it. But with help of three textures of Kim Klassen the image changed extremely and now I love it!
The pewter teapot is a souvenir of my mother.

kk-2801, just golden, kk-abstract.

Pretty Pastels (Hübsche Pastellfarben)

Be Still 52 - week 12 with Kim Klassen photography class

This time we have a lovely prompt: Pretty Pastels. On Easter Sunday I saw this sweet small cake in our bakery and decided, this is my pretty pastels model. My first shooting is with sidelight from the right. Maybe some more shootings will follow.

In Lightroom I did some adjustments and applied Kims preset  hazydazy, changed to Photoshop and applied textures kk_dare with soft light 100% op. and kk_elevate with soft light 70% opacity.

For the week 11 of this project, the prompt was to compose and use prints of our images. I had not time enough for ordering new prints, but I'm lucky to have prints of my images for my booklet.
Maybe later on I'll come back to this prints idea with my texturized images. 

I processed with Lightroom with preset kk_truegrit, adjustments and vignetting. No texture.

I love this kind of Stillness. During my shooting of the tulips, one has broken off. So this beautiful image was created.

In Lightroom I used my own preset ER-soft-1, changed into Photoshop for signature. No texture.

LIGHT AROUND THE CLOCK

Be Still 52 - week 10 with Kim Klassen photography class

In the last week's lesson we were asked to explore lighting around the clock. Just with a simple subject, for example a simple spoon. And then observe the shadows from different directions as back- front- side- lighting, or also the angles between them. This was a very interesting experience.
While gathering subjects at the beginning of this workshop I found a very old spoon on a flea market. Inspired from Kim's photography for week 10, I used this lovely spoon for this lesson.
In Lightroom I created my own darkmood preset, switched to Photoshop and applied the texture kk_cloudyday.

Week 9 - IVY & HIDRANGEA STILL MOMENTS

The Ivy images of Kim are beautiful! I have no Ivy, because it's not good for my cat. But on my Sundays walk through the forest I found some fresh branches. This is my creation which I shoot on my balcony. Of course it was a must for my tomct to assist :)

In Lightroom only little adjustments, no preset. In CS5 I used Kim's textures kk_ponder and twice kk_return.

Surely everybody is longing for spring! This beautiful yellow ranunculus is my first sign of spring.

This week we are asked to take a break and look back, consider what we have learned and to be aware that we do not forget to breathe before taking photos. Also to look back at the work we have created.
I always wished to take a photo with black background; so this is my focus for this week.
I used Lightroom, some adjustments and preset kk_darkmood. No texture in Phtoshop, just words.

Prompt: Back Lighting
Very interesting lesson! I was trying different scenarios and the light I filtered with a curtain. Thanks to the texture in the curtain there was no need to apply a texture.

In LR i did some enhancements and applied the preset kk_breeze in the image below.  No work in CS5.

Below a triology with three different Lightroom kk_presets.
It was very interesint to see how different the image changed.

Prompt: Focus & Blur
This prompt was really a challenge for me. It took me two afternoons of shooting! But it was so interesting and I learned a lot.
With available day-light it was ok, but with full sunshine I got troubles ......

Finally with the image below I'm satisfied.

In LR proceeded with auto tone and preset kk_breeze. Changed into CS5 and applied Kims textures kk_simple1, mode screen with opacity 71%.

For week 6 the prompt was dinner plate art. And I have two brand new cups, which I love very much. So they are exactly right for this week photography.

In Lightroom I used kk preset DarkMood, changed into Photoshop and applied the texture kk_simple with mode screen, op. 51%

For week 7 we have another prompt, which is stacked.
I stacked my little booklet "Gefühle" which means "Feelings"  about Yearning, Hope, Love.
This booklet is a wonderful teamwork between my dear friend Karl Miziolek and myself. Content are poetries of Karl and photomanipulations made by myself.

Lightroom preset kk_breathe and in
Photoshop applied textures kk_mondays mode soft light  op.100%  and simple, soft light 53%.

Be Still 52 - week 6 with Kim Klassen photography class

Again a week with looking around and gathering. I visited some thrift shops -
no, no, I didn't spent a lot of money :) Back home I took a moment to Be Still - to Breathe and than I enjoyed my purchase.
But slowely I see a problem, where to staw away all my threasures!

The white chaire (before brown)  is from my family home and older than 60 years.

Processed in LR with kk_darkmood, changed into CS5 and applied Kims textures kk_0216 and kk_cora

I did some adjustments in LR and applied the LR preset kk_melancholy; switched to CS5 and added texture  kk_touch-a negat, mode multiply 34% opacity and kk_plaster, mode pin light opacity 47%
